Senior Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team at our Global Head Office/remote.

About the Role
Reporting to the
Team Leader Clinical Coding, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely clinical coding of patient admissions, ensuring the integrity of health information and compliance with relevant coding standards and legislative requirements.
Working closely with clinicians, health information professionals and operational teams, you will play a key role in supporting quality reporting, funding accuracy and regulatory submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse medical records to accurately identify diagnoses, procedures and treatments relevant to each episode of care
- Perform clinical coding using ICD-10-AM, ACHI 13th Edition and undertake diagnostic related grouping activities
- Ensure coding quality and completion within agreed timeframes
- Complete Cancer Registry notifications as required
- Investigate and clarify incomplete, inconsistent or non-specific clinical documentation
- Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of patient information in accordance with relevant legislation
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance coding quality and health information processes
- Support a collaborative team environment through knowledge sharing and participation in meetings and projects
- Assist with clinical coding coverage and support broader Health InformationServcies activities as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Essential Qualifications
- Mandatory: Formal qualification in Clinical Coding.
- Desirable: Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management and eligibility for full membership of HIMAA.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to code accurately and in a timely manner using ICD-10-AM & ACHI – 13th Edition with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Previous clinical coding experience within a private hospital setting is well regarded
- Sound understanding of AR-DRGs and their application in a private hospital environment
- Oncology / Haematology clinical coding experience
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and healthcare information systems
