Within the Capital & Provisioning Modelling Crew, you'll work alongside experienced statisticians, mathematicians, quantitative analysts and risk professionals to develop sophisticated statistical models that help the Group better understand and manage millions of customer portfolios.
We partner across disciplines to deliver outcomes in a highly regulated environment where governance requirements influence modelling approaches. We're responsible for developing, monitoring and validating the models used across CommBank, Bankwest and ASB, helping to protect our customers, strengthen the bank and enable sustainable growth.

Your Impact & Contribution
As an Analyst in Retail Models, you'll apply the mathematics, statistics and quantitative reasoning you've studied at university to solve complex, large-scale problems with real-world impact. Working alongside experienced quantitative specialists, you'll contribute to predictive analytics, portfolio performance and decision science, while building deep expertise in credit risk modelling, regulatory capital and provisioning frameworks.
This opportunity focuses on statistical modelling and quantitative problem-solving rather than reporting and dashboard development. You'll build highly transferable skills across quantitative modelling, data science, analytics and risk, creating strong foundations for a long-term career in quantitative disciplines.
In this role, you may expect to:
- Support the development of sophisticated statistical models used across CommBank, Bankwest and ASB
- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends and insights
- Apply statistical techniques to solve quantitative business problems
- Support the development and enhancement of predictive models
- Use Python, R and SQL to manipulate and analyse data
- Contribute to model monitoring, validation and performance assessment
- Document analytical findings and communicate insights clearly
- Collaborate with quantitative analysts, statisticians and risk specialists
- Build expertise in modelling, analytics and decision science

What You'll Need to Succeed
Whether your passion is mathematics, statistics, econometrics, modelling or quantitative analysis, this role offers a strong foundation for a successful analytical career. We're particularly interested in graduates from Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Physics, Engineering and other highly quantitative disciplines. Subjects that may be particularly relevant include Probability Theory, Statistical Modelling, Mathematical Statistics, Econometrics, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Optimisation, Calculus and Linear Algebra.
You'll be well placed for success with:
- A strong academic record in a highly quantitative discipline
- Strong foundations in mathematics, probability and statistics
- Demonstrably high analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
- Exposure to Python, R, SQL or similar analytical programming languages
- Curiosity, learning agility and a detail-oriented mindset
- The ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
- Academic excellence in quantitative subjects will be highly regarded
