We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our team on a full-time basis, covering maternity leave and ideally starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a hands-on, varied, management position within a business that genuinely values its people and its culture.
Based in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, you'll join a team known for its open, down to earth and high-energy workplace culture. We need someone who is a suitably qualified candidate who can ‘hit the ground’ running and make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a small HR team, setting clear objectives, priorities and performance expectations.
- Provide day-to-day coaching, mentoring and support to HR team members, building their capability and confidence.
- Implement and monitor HR processes, policies and contracts in line with local legislation, relevant industrial instruments and Modern Awards.
- Provide necessary support and input for monthly payroll processing
- Oversee the recruitment strategy for the business, incorporating talent attraction, retention and performance considerations.
- Partner with business leaders to identify training and development needs, and implement or source tailored training solutions.
- Act as the first point of contact for employee relations queries and lead the resolution of ER matters.
- Coach and advise business leaders on people performance, disciplinary processes and best practice people management.
- Drive employee engagement and productivity through regular feedback, surveys and HR initiatives.
- You have proven experience as a HR Manager.
The incumbent who will succeed in this position has:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of progressive HR operations experience preferably in the high-tech start-up or similar industry
- Working knowledge of HR compliance and employment law
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- High level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands
- Experience managing employee relations cases, recruitment, and compliance processes end-to-end
- Working knowledge of award interpretation (Knowledge of the Clerks and Professional Employees award will be highly regarded).
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of the business
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the flexibility to manage a varied and evolving workload
- An agile and flexible attitude where you are happy to get ‘your hands dirty’ and be hands-on where needed.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone to step into the role on a full-time basis, working in the office 3-4 days per week. However, we’re also open to a 0.8 FTE arrangement for someone seeking greater flexibility and work-life balance.
