Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of teams in a forensic biology environment.
Proven expertise in the ability to conduct and self-manage high quality forensic casework of a complex nature including:
detection, identification and analysis of materials encountered in casework
the interpretation of analytical results, including statistical interpretations where relevant
report writing and presentation of opinion evidence in court.
Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, and verbal and written ability to impart specialist knowledge to diverse groups.
Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction and constructively manage client/stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for clients, stakeholder, and the Department.
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures relating to a forensic scientific laboratory.
Proven experience in forensic biology and laboratory practice, and experience in developing, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures in accordance with the legislation, regulations and standards that apply to a multidisciplinary laboratory organisation.
Proven ability to coordinate the implementation of contemporary and innovative scientific processes, procedures and concepts and to encourage their application and acceptance by staff and clients.
Substantial knowledge of contemporary forensic sciences professional standards, service delivery requirements and management techniques, including knowledge and understanding of quality systems and national accreditation programs (in particular NATA/ISO accreditation).
