The Nuclear Medicine term at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) offers junior doctors a unique opportunity to gain experience in a highly specialised specialty that plays a critical role in the diagnosis, management and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions.
Working alongside Nuclear Medicine Physicians, Radiologists, Technologists and multidisciplinary clinical teams, trainees are exposed to the use of advanced imaging techniques and radionuclide therapies across oncology, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology and general medicine. The role provides valuable experience in patient assessment, image interpretation, diagnostic pathways and the clinical application of molecular imaging technologies.
As a major tertiary referral hospital, RNSH manages a diverse and complex patient population, offering exposure to a broad range of nuclear medicine investigations and therapies. Trainees gain insight into how nuclear medicine contributes to patient care through accurate diagnosis, disease staging, treatment planning and monitoring of therapeutic outcomes.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the role is to undertake clinical service and research related to patients with neuroendocrine tumours and other radionuclide therapies (e.g., SIR-Spheres for liver cancer).
In addition to providing clinical services, the fellow will play a key role in supporting clinicians and scientists to integrate information from medical imaging, anatomical & molecular pathology and various clinical departments so as to optimise individual therapy for each patient and gather long-term follow-up and outcome data to best inform future treatment options.
