About the Business Unit:
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case. The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954-bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice, and Community Safety.
About the Role:
The position of Assessment and Transition Coordinator is situated within the Offender Services Team at the Metropolitan Remand Centre. The Assessment and Transition Coordinator undertakes prisoner risk assessments using the approved CV assessment instrument and provides a range of support and services to assist prisoners to transition into, through and out of prison. This includes participating in the Case Management Review Meetings to develop and review progress against local plans; coordinating prisoner involvement in transitional programs; liaison and provision of assistance to external service providers; facilitating referrals and delivering and coordinating the delivery of the programs. The position will also liaise with Community Correctional Services in relation to parole planning and facilitation of information.
This position requires direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

Prisoner Support and transition services
Support Reintegration Program
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders

Demonstrated understanding of transition and reintegration issues and needs of prisoners.
Demonstrated ability to administer risk assessment tools with individual prisoners.
Demonstrated capacity or aptitude to work with clients who are difficult to engage individually and in group work settings
