About the role
The Senior Secretariat and Governance Lead will deliver high-level executive and secretariat services for various boards and committees, in particular the Audit and Risk Committees (ARC) for the department and agencies, including membership arrangements, providing strategic advice, administrative services, governance oversight, and communications management that align with legislative and internal frameworks. Sitting within the Legal and Governance branch, the role also supports oversight and delivery of governance arrangements across the department to ensure effective governance mechanisms are in place and maintains the department’s Corporate Policy Governance Framework, guiding the business on policy development, timely reviews and relevant reporting.
Some of the key accountabilities of the role include –
- Provide comprehensive ARC secretariat support by coordinating meetings and presentation materials, preparing and distributing agendas, minute taking, drafting and dissemination and documenting decision-making processes. This includes undertaking actions arising from boards and committee meetings, liaising with stakeholders to ensure timely completion, accurate reporting, and appropriate, confidential correspondence.
- Support broader boards and committees’ governance, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and act as a central point of contact for board and committee members.
- Provide support for high-level oversight of diverse corporate governance requirements for the department. Including maintaining the Corporate Policies Governance Framework and supporting the development and management of the department’s Governance Framework.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Experience delivering high-quality executive-level secretariat support for boards and committees, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and action tracking.
- Ability to support the development, implementation and evaluation of governance frameworks, programs, and strategies to support effective decision-making and compliance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and organisational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and coordinate complex activities across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
