About You
You are the kind of business analyst who enjoys getting close to how data is actually created, used, retained and governed, not just documenting it once and moving on. In this hands on role, you will sit within our Data Management and Governance team and do the real work that keeps data practices compliant and usable. This includes mapping processes, cleaning up and maintaining documentation, and helping the business make sense of complex data obligations. You will work closely with data and privacy specialists, translating legislative and policy requirements into clear, workable processes that stand up in a highly regulated environment.
This role will suit someone with solid experience in data management, data governance, information or records management who also brings strong business analysis capability. You are comfortable facilitating workshops, engaging with process owners, and turning messy inputs into clear process maps, user guides and governance artefacts. You will not see this as a purely technical role or a standard project BA position. It is about operational ownership, attention to detail, and keeping things accurate and current over time. Experience in environments such as higher education, government or large enterprises, and exposure to privacy, records management or frameworks like DAMA or DCAM, will put you in a strong position.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
Demonstrated experience leading complex business analysis across enterprise data governance, data quality, metadata management, information classification, retention and disposal, or related information management domains.
Ability to interpret policy, regulatory, privacy and risk requirements and translate them into clear business and functional requirements, redesigned processes, controls and implementable solutions.
Demonstrated experience analysing current‑state business processes to identify risks, control gaps and inefficiencies, and designing future‑state processes that strengthen compliance, reduce duplication and improve consistency at an enterprise level.
Strong ability to work collaboratively across portfolios, partnering with Information Trustees, Stewards, business leaders and delivery teams to embed governance practices and support adoption of change.
Demonstrated experience contributing to assurance activities, risk assessments and control design, with the ability to ensure processes are well‑defined, auditable and consistently applied.
Experience supporting change impact assessment, user engagement and transition activities, and applying continuous improvement approaches to uplift process maturity and effectiveness.
Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality analysis artefacts, guidance and documentation for diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
