An exciting opportunity to join the Patient Liaison Officer (PLO) team working Monday to Friday.
What you'll be doing
The Patient Liaison Officer is a specialist revenue role responsible for maximising private patient and compensable revenue opportunities. The role manages complex patient financial elections, serves as the primary escalation point for frontline revenue issues, and ensures seamless integration between patient administration and revenue claiming.
A key responsibility is delivering revenue-related training to Clinical Support Administrators (CSAs) and Admissions Liaison Officers, building frontline capability and compliance. The Patient Liaison Officer maintains ongoing liaison with CSAs to monitor revenue compliance, resolve system mismatches, correct incomplete records, and ensure all chargeable patient paperwork is accurately captured across revenue, admission, and other frontline patient information systems to support successful billing outcomes

Demonstrated experience in a complex hospital revenue role, with advanced knowledge of billing classifications (Medicare, Private, Compensable, Overseas) and the ability to work under limited direction to set priorities and monitor daily workflows.

Understanding of hospital revenue processes, financial classifications, and the importance of accurate patient billing documentation

Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to perform tasks that are complex in nature and require independent judgment, including resolving escalated patient financial disputes.

Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work within established procedural guidelines and including digital privacy and scanning requirements.

Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and strict adherence to the NSW Health Code of Conduct.

Effective written communication skills, with the ability to prepare accurate reports, correspondence, and procedural documentation for a range of audiences.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a 24/7 hospital environment, including participation in rosters that may include after-hours shifts, weekends, public holidays, and peak periods, whilst adapting to changing service demands and maintaining consistent performance and professionalism.
