As the business continues to expand its project portfolio across Victoria, an experienced Construction Project Manager is required to oversee multiple projects and ensure successful project delivery.
About the Role
The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and managing construction projects from initial feasibility through to completion. Working closely with directors, consultants, subcontractors and government authorities, the successful applicant will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with Australian building standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and manage the delivery of residential and commercial construction projects from project commencement to completion.
- Coordinate project feasibility activities, planning approvals, permits and statutory compliance requirements with relevant authorities.
- Review and interpret architectural, engineering and construction documentation to ensure project objectives and specifications are achieved.
- Develop project programmes, construction methodologies and resource allocation plans to meet project milestones.
- Coordinate procurement activities, including tender preparation, contractor selection and procurement of materials, plant and equipment.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, building surveyors, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor construction progress, project costs, budgets and cash flow, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Identify project risks and develop practical mitigation strategies to minimise delays and cost overruns.
- Manage site quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with contractual specifications, Australian Standards and the National Construction Code.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with workplace health and safety legislation and company HSE policies.
- Coordinate inspections, authority approvals, occupancy requirements and project handover documentation.
- Prepare project reports, progress updates and financial forecasts for senior management.
- Lead project teams by coordinating internal staff, subcontractors and external consultants to achieve project objectives.
- Manage project variations, contract administration and stakeholder communications throughout all project phases.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery, quality outcomes and operational efficiency.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated at least 5 years' experience managing building or civil construction projects from planning through to completion.
- Strong knowledge of Australian construction practices, contract administration, project planning and statutory approval processes.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants, contractors and government authorities.
- Excellent project scheduling, budgeting and cost control skills.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance, workplace health and safety and risk management principles.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a language other than English to facilitate communication with culturally and linguistically diverse clients, subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholders, while maintaining all project documentation and business communications in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software; AutoCAD experience will be highly regarded.
Salary
$120,000 per annum plus superannuation, subject to skills and experience.
