About Us
Fines and Enforcement Services (FES) is a business unit within the Department of Justice and Community Safety's Courts, Civil and Criminal Law group. FES is responsible for monitoring and managing the end-to-end fines system in Victoria and for delivering the functions of Director Fines Victoria, and Sheriff of Victoria.
What you will do
As policy officer, you will help develop policy and legislation for Victoria's fines and enforcement system.
You will prepare clear advice and support government decisions in a fast-moving environment.
You will:
- develop high-quality policy advice on legal, policy and operational issues
- contribute to important policy reform projects from planning through to delivery
- prepare timely briefings, correspondence and material for Cabinet, Parliament and other government processes
- research issues and develop evidence-based proposals for policy, legislative and regulatory reform
- build strong working relationships to gather feedback and support policy development.
About you
A tertiary qualification in law, policy development or another relevant field is highly desirable.
You should also have:
- strong writing and research skills, with experience preparing policy advice
- good knowledge of Cabinet, Parliamentary and government decision-making processes
- sound understanding of fines and enforcement services or the ability to build this knowledge quickly
- strong critical thinking, project delivery and communication skills, with confidence working across different teams.
