Apply now for an Emergency Medicine SRMO (PGY3+) position at Ballina District Hospital. The successful applicants will gain valuable experience in our hospital, working under the guidance of highly experienced senior clinicians.
Please note this is a part-time 0.5 FTE opportunity, ideally with a commencement of 3 August 2026 (commencement date can be negotiated for the right candidate).
Education: We offer weekly education sessions, facilitated by Dr Martin Duffy (ACEM Educator of the year 2021), including simulation, clinical skills, case reviews, and buddy shifts with FACEM. SRMOs are supported by EMET Lismore Hub providing access to multiple workshops including paediatric emergencies, procedural skills, ultrasound and airway management.
Career Progression: Following your SRMO year, you can progress to Emergency Medicine Training at Lismore Base Hospital. LBH is accredited for 36 months of training as a Trainee Stage 1-3, 6 months as Trainee Stage 4 (Lismore ED), and 3 months as Trainee Stage 4 (non-ED Medical Education). Our ED Registrar positions offer opportunities to rotate to ACEM accredited terms in Retrieval, Anaesthetics, ICU, Medical Education and Ultrasound.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
