Safety Partner | Marine Services & Logistics
Margate, Tasmania | Fixed Term Contract November 2026
Partner with leaders. Build safety capability. Drive meaningful change.
At Tassal, our purpose is Sustainably Feeding Tomorrow. As Australia's aquaculture leader and a leading seafood brand, safety is fundamental to how we operate and how we care for our people.
We're looking for an experienced Safety Partner to join our Marine Services & Logistics team in Margate on a fixed term contract. Working alongside operational leaders and teams, you'll play a key role in strengthening safety capability, managing risk and continuing to build a proactive safety culture across a dynamic, hands-on operational environment.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager - Safety, you'll be a visible and trusted safety partner across Marine Services & Logistics. You'll work closely with leaders and teams to understand the realities of their operations and translate safety requirements into practical actions that work on the ground.
This isn't a role focused on simply policing compliance. You'll coach, challenge and influence leaders to take ownership of safety outcomes, build confidence in managing operational risk and embed safety into everyday decision-making.
You'll:
Partner with Marine Services & Logistics leaders to strengthen safety capability, accountability and ownership
Spend time across the operation, building trusted relationships and understanding operational risks and challenges
Coach teams in risk management and support the development of practical risk reduction plans
Support the implementation of Tassal's Safety Management System and broader safety programs
Lead and support incident investigations, including ICAM investigations
Analyse injury, incident and safety performance data, supporting leaders to understand trends and take practical action to improve safety outcomes.
Coordinate internal and external safety audits and support leaders to effectively close out corrective actions
Deliver and facilitate practical safety training across the operation
Provide clear, practical advice on safety legislation, regulations and risk management
Support injury management, workers compensation and return-to-work activities
Drive continuous improvement in safety standards, systems and practices
About you
You're an experienced Safety professional who understands that strong safety outcomes are built through relationships, trust and genuine leadership ownership.
Comfortable working in a hands-on operational environment, you're able to balance technical safety expertise with a practical and commercially considered approach. You know when to coach, when to challenge and how to bring people with you.
You'll bring:
3-5 years' experience in a Safety, WHS or HSE role
A Diploma in Health and Safety, WHS or equivalent
Strong knowledge of safety legislation, regulations and risk management practices
Experience partnering with and influencing operational leaders
The ability to translate technical safety requirements into practical, fit-for-purpose solutions
Experience supporting incident investigations, audits and continuous improvement initiatives
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The confidence to coach, challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels
A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or Lead Auditor Health and Safety qualification will be highly regarded.
Why Tassal?
This is an opportunity to step into a visible, hands-on role where you'll have the chance to genuinely influence how safety is led across Marine Services & Logistics.
You'll work alongside operational leaders, build safety capability across the team and contribute to meaningful safety initiatives that directly impact our people and operations. The role has genuine breadth across risk management, investigations, audits, training, injury management and continuous improvement.
