About the role:
The Surveillance Officer is responsible for supporting surveillance and response activities for communicable diseases.
The role is responsible for tasks including active data collection, data entry and data quality activities. This may include the review of notifications, liaising with doctors and other health services for collection of enhanced surveillance data, provision of routine reports and administrative support for projects.
The successful applicant will have an ability to work flexibly across the CHO Group to support evolving public health and strategic priorities, emerging threats and urgent operational responses.

About you:
Can you demonstrate the following?

Contribute to the effective management of patient-level and aggregate data collections. This includes application of data standards, timely and accurate processing of data, and detailed data quality edits.

Understand and apply legislative frameworks and Departmental policies regarding data privacy, confidentiality and security.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the department and work in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Provide surveillance support for communicable diseases.

Liaise with medical practitioners, laboratory staff and other healthcare providers to actively collect enhanced surveillance data on notified cases of communicable diseases.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

A tertiary qualification in a health-related field would be beneficial.

Experience in collecting and reporting on notifiable communicable disease data would be an advantage.

Good understanding of the legislative frameworks and Departmental policies regarding data privacy, confidentiality and security.
