Our Project Development and Finance Practice specializes in advising clients on the legal and financial aspects of large-scale infrastructure and development projects. Our practice provides comprehensive support through all stages of project development, including initial planning, financing, construction and operation. Our team works with clients across various sectors such as energy, transportation, real estate and public infrastructure, offering expertise in structuring and negotiating project agreements, managing regulatory compliance and mitigating risks. We also assist clients in securing funding through various financial instruments and navigating complex financial transactions. By combining deep industry knowledge with a global perspective, our Project Development and Finance Practice helps clients successfully bring projects to fruition, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Our Australian project development and finance team is well-recognised for its breadth of experience and industry knowledge. The team has advised both public and private sector clients, including project sponsors and lenders, across a vast range of industry groups, delivering flexible and innovative financing solutions that give our clients the edge in today's changing marketplace. We have particular expertise on-the-ground in Australia working with sponsors and lenders on complex, multisourced projects to successfully develop "bankable" structures.
Key responsibilities:
- Acting for top tier lenders and sponsors in connection with project, corporate and acquisition financing mandates in the energy infrastructure and resources sectors.
- Assist the closure of project, corporate and acquisition financing transactions.
- Supporting the coordination of internal teams across the White & Case global offices to achieve closure of project, corporate and acquisition financing transactions.
- Managing external counsels in respect of local jurisdiction legal issues to achieve closure of project, corporate and acquisition financing transactions.
- Managing small teams to provide timely assistance/advice to White & Case top tier lender and sponsor clients.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Admission in Australia or Common Law jurisdiction
- PQE 4-7
- Experience in general banking finance, broad exposure preferable consisting of a combination of, project, corporate and acquisition finance, syndicated and bilateral financings (both secured and unsecured)
- A good knowledge of international finance law and the analytical skill to navigate the contractual intricacies of complex, cross-border transactions.
- Highly organized and deadline focused.
- Adept at managing multiple work streams and delivering flawless work within short timeframes.
- Collaborative and works well as part of a team.
- Builds strong professional relationships with colleagues, clients and outside parties.
- Self-motivated and proactive.

- This is a Senior Associate role based in Sydney
- Reporting to a Partner
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $210,000.00 – $290,000.00 per year
