You crave a career that pushes you, where you'll meet challenges head on and you're guaranteed to grow.
This is your opportunity to broaden your experience and perspectives, step out of the confines of a standard project role and expand your scope to work with an interconnected ecosystem of industry professionals.
In this role, you'll:
Provide expert leadership in uplifting and embedding project cost management standards across Transport for NSW’s portfolio, supporting confident, transparent and informed investment decision‑making. You will develop, maintain and continuously improve project cost management frameworks, tools and guidance covering cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting and cost‑risk analysis, ensuring alignment with NSW Treasury requirements, the Digital Assurance Framework and recognised industry best practice.
You will contribute specialist assurance advice to project health checks, gate reviews and portfolio assurance activities, working collaboratively with Finance, PMO and analytics teams to ensure consistency between portfolio and financial reporting. Through analysis of portfolio cost performance, you will identify systemic issues, trends and improvement opportunities, translating these into practical enhancements to standards, reporting and capability uplift across the organisation.

About you
You are an experienced project cost management professional with a strong track record operating in large, complex organisations or infrastructure delivery environments. You bring a deep understanding of project cost estimation, forecasting, financial controls and earned value management, and can apply assurance and governance frameworks in a pragmatic and proportionate way. You are highly analytical and numerate, confident working with complex financial data and modelling tools, and able to clearly communicate technical concepts and insights to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in finance, project management, economics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, and a relevant professional certification in project management or cost engineering, such as AACE Certified Cost Professional, PMI or PRINCE2. You bring a collaborative and consultative approach, are comfortable working with autonomy, and are motivated to drive continuous improvement in project cost management practices in support of Transport for NSW’s strategic objectives.
