Beachcomber Cafe in St Kilda is looking for an experienced Chef . The position is full time and a minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role is required
We are a family run restaurant based in the heart of St Kilda beach. Our focus is on authentic Mediterranean food, international cuisine, seafood & outstanding customer service in a family friendly environment.
Summary of Position:
Organise and control the operations of the restaurant to ensure a fine dining experience for our patrons. Duties in brief include:
- planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- be responsible for quality control and tasting the dishes; making sure they are at the right standard and are presented correctly before they go out to the customer
- discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
- demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- preparing and cooking food
- explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
- may select and train staff
- may freeze and preserve foods
- create a vision for the cuisine, inspire your team and delegate tasks effectively
- recruit, motivate and manage staff
- oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, order food and undertake the kitchen inventory (this potentially includes budgeting)
- oversee hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
- prepare and plate dishes and have an input into menu design.
To be successful in the role, you will need to have:
- Appropriate qualifications such as AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma [ANZSCO Skill Level 2] at a minimum
OR
- A minimum of at least 2-years formal experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment

- Be available to work days, nights and weekends and have your own reliable transport.

This position is for immediate start for the successful applicant.
Salary ranging from 80k- 85k. plus super

Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
