The Opportunity
This role will bring qualitative research expertise directly into the Survivorship Clinic, ensuring that the experiences of survivors help shape the way care is delivered and services are developed. By capturing and analysing patient experiences, the Senior Research Officer will identify opportunities for improvement, contribute to future service planning, and support advocacy activities, with the aim of improving long-term outcomes and quality of life for survivors.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct qualitative, in-depth interviews and focus groups with survivors, siblings, and parents to identify key psychological, educational, and social themes in survivorship.
- Explore the longitudinal psychosocial trajectories of patients to understand late-effects, including PTSD and fear of recurrence.
- Utilise qualitative data to create, refine, or validate questionnaires that better capture the patient experience in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Identify and address barriers in the transition of care from oncology to primary care or adult services through patient feedback.
- Identify key themes to inform the development of peer-support, digital health tools, or education workshops.
Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, this role is for a period of 12 months at 0.1 FTE.
