About the Role
The IT Service Desk Officer plays a key role in delivering high-quality, customer-focused IT support to the UOW community. As part of a centralised service team, you will act as a first point of contact for IT incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where required.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide first-level IT support, including diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of incidents and service requests
- Deliver technical support across desktop environments (Windows and Mac) and core systems such as email, applications, and printing
- Accurately log, track, and manage service requests and incidents, ensuring timely escalation where necessary
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying recurring issues and enhancing service delivery processes
About the Team
This role sits within the Shared Services Division, which provides centralised, high-quality administrative and support services across the University. The IT Service Desk team partners with staff, students, and stakeholders to deliver responsive, consistent, and efficient IT support, enabling teaching, research, and operational excellence across UOW.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant tertiary qualification in IT or a combination of equivalent experience and training
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage and meet client expectations
- Experience supporting a range of software and systems, including Microsoft environments and IT service management tools
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently

Level 5 | 84,002 - $94,998 + 17% superannuation commensurate with experience
Location: Wollongong Campus (with rostered shifts between 8am–10pm, Monday to Friday)
