This role plays a vital part in maintaining and improving the region's transport infrastructure, helping keep communities connected and roads safe as part of the North East Link Project, ensuring the timely availability of materials, equipment and logistics support that enable the safe and efficient delivery of essential transport infrastructure. Through effective warehouse and inventory management, you'll help keep communities connected, support road network reliability and contribute to one of Victoria's most significant transport projects.
About the role
As an Apprentice Electrician, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside qualified electricians maintaining and repairing traffic signals, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and roadside electrical infrastructure across Victoria's road network.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your electrical skills while completing your apprenticeship in a unique and specialised environment. You'll be supported by experienced industry professionals, learning fault finding, testing, maintenance and safety practices while contributing to the reliable operation of critical transport assets. Based in the field, this role offers a mix of planned maintenance, inspections and reactive fault response activities.
Role responsibilities

Assist qualified electricians with inspections, maintenance and repairs of traffic signals, ITS and roadside electrical assets.

Learn to perform electrical testing, fault finding and diagnostic activities under supervision.

Support planned maintenance, asset inspections and minor repair works across metropolitan and regional Victoria.

Maintain accurate work records and assist with completing work orders, inspections and maintenance documentation.

Follow all safety procedures, SWMS, permits and site requirements while working in live traffic environments.

Support emergency fault response activities and contribute to the safe restoration of assets where required.

Participate in training, toolbox meetings and on-the-job learning to develop your technical and practical skills.
About you

Currently undertaking, or looking to commence, an Electrical Apprenticeship.

Strong interest in electrical infrastructure, technology systems and hands-on field-based work.

Positive attitude with a willingness to learn from experienced tradespeople and develop new skills.

Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and following procedures.

Reliable, punctual and motivated with a strong work ethic.

Current Driver's Licence and White Card, or willingness to obtain.

Ability to work outdoors and across a variety of locations within a dynamic operational environment.
