Primary objective
Responsible for co-ordinating, delivering, designing, developing and quality assuring training and other professional learning
and development programs for the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to assist in the ongoing implementation of
training and workforce development strategies to build workforce skill and capacity.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver and coordinate contemporary workforce education, training and development programs for a dispersed and
varied workforce to support high standards of competency across the department, including inducting and developing
new team members.
2. Advise on training or study needs, find and test innovative training programs, resources and activities for staff delivering
voluntary and statutory services to children and families using a continuous improvement cycle.
3. Lead, plan, and implement trials and projects to improve training and capability building to improve client outcomes.
4. Partner with training or study providers, non-government organisations and other Agencies to assist in development,
support and quality assurance of training or professional learning to achieve agreed outcomes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to deliver, coordinate and facilitate high level training and other professional development activities in a human
services environment or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated experience using project, stakeholder, risk and change management skills to deliver outcomes whilst
meeting deadlines in tight timeframes.
3. Demonstrated ability to analyse needs, plan, develop, advise on, and evaluate education/training programs, resources
or activities.
4. Demonstrated ability to analyse legislation, policies, contemporary practice frameworks and trends to develop training
products that develop workforce competencies and capabilities.
5. High level understanding of the complexities of diverse cultures and their relationship to client outcomes including
awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the NT context.
6. High level written, oral and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with subject matter experts, understand and
address the needs of front line teams and work with a variety of stakeholders.
7. Highly developed organisation and time management skills with the ability to deliver quality products suited for the
intended audience.
Desirable
1. Professional development, adult education, training or professional coaching qualification.
2. Degree or qualification in social work, child protection, psychology, or other relevant area.

This position requires travel. The applicant will need to work in regional areas for up to two weeks at a time.
