About the role
Reporting to our Financial Controller, the Finance Business Analyst plays an important role in helping The Commons make informed, commercially sound decisions. You'll combine strong financial reporting with commercial analysis to help us understand how the business is performing, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide insights that support better decision making. From month-end reporting and budgeting through to financial modelling and business partnering, you'll work closely with leaders across the business to translate data into meaningful recommendations.
This role also offers the opportunity to be involved in one of our biggest business transformation projects as we transition to a new ERP system, giving you exposure to systems implementation, process improvement and change management.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis

Support the month-end reporting process, including reconciliations, journals and financial analysis.

Prepare monthly management reports, providing commentary on business performance, key trends and variances.

Analyse financial and operational data to identify opportunities, risks and cost-saving initiatives.

Support budgeting and forecasting activities across the business.

Develop financial models and reports that help leaders make informed commercial decisions.

Monitor key business metrics and provide insights into performance against budget and forecast.

Continuously improve reporting tools, dashboards and finance processes to deliver more meaningful and efficient reporting.
Finance Operations

Support the Finance team with reporting, analysis and day-to-day accounting activities.

Assist with reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and other month-end responsibilities.

Prepare reports and supporting documentation for month-end close.

Contribute to financial reporting across multiple entities within the business.

Assist with ad hoc analysis and projects as required.
Finance Systems & Business Improvement

Support the implementation and ongoing optimisation of our finance systems, including our transition to Yardi.

Assist with data migration, validation, testing and reconciliation to ensure a successful system implementation.

Help prepare, cleanse and map financial data for migration and ongoing system integrity.

Identify opportunities to improve finance processes through automation, system enhancements and better reporting.

Support user testing, system updates and continuous improvements as business needs evolve.

Document finance processes and support change management across the Finance team and broader business.

Act as a key point of contact for finance system enhancements, maintenance and reporting improvements following implementation.
About you
You'll enjoy digging into data, asking questions and finding ways to improve how things are done. You're comfortable working with large datasets, have a keen eye for detail and enjoy partnering with stakeholders to solve business problems.
You'll also bring:

4+ years' experience in accounting, finance or financial analysis.

A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.

CA or CPA qualification (completed or working towards) is highly regarded.

Strong experience across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes.

Excellent analytical, financial modelling and problem-solving skills.

Advanced Excel skills, with experience using Power BI or other reporting tools highly regarded.

Experience working with ERP systems such as Xero, SAP, Oracle, TechnologyOne or similar.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

A proactive mindset and genuine passion for continuous improvement.
-
Experience within commercial real estate, hospitality, fitness or a multi-site business is advantageous.
