What You’ll Do
Partnering closely with the EGM Regulatory Affairs and senior leaders across Optus, you will lead the commercial strategy and engagement with key regulated infrastructure suppliers. You will be responsible for:
Leading the commercial sourcing and negotiation strategy for regulated wholesale and interconnect products
Acting as the primary commercial interface between Optus and key suppliers including Telstra Wholesale InfraCo and NBN Co
Driving negotiations on pricing, terms, service parameters and product variations to deliver optimal commercial outcomes
Applying deep regulatory insight to shape negotiation strategies and identify opportunities to leverage regulatory settings
Ensuring regulated supply arrangements are commercially efficient, operationally viable and aligned with regulatory requirements
Coordinating cross-functional input from Networks, Consumer, Enterprise & Business, Wholesale, Legal and Finance teams to define negotiation positions
Managing complex disputes, escalations and commercial issues relating to regulated supply arrangements
Monitoring regulatory developments and assessing impacts on contracts, sourcing strategies and cost structures
Analysing product usage, volumes and spend to provide insights that inform commercial decision-making and long-term strategy [JD%20-Dire...Contracts1 | Word]
What You’ll Bring
Extensive experience (10+ years) in telecommunications or a regulated infrastructure sector, with exposure to wholesale products, sourcing or commercial negotiations
Strong commercial negotiation capability, particularly in regulated or complex supplier environments
Practical understanding of the Australian telecommunications regulatory framework, including key instruments and access regimes
Proven ability to manage strategic supplier relationships as a single point of accountability
Demonstrated experience translating regulatory obligations into commercially effective strategies
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across senior internal and external stakeholders
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability, particularly in assessing cost drivers, risks and opportunities
Collaborative mindset with experience working across technical, commercial and operational teams in complex organisations
