Warehouse Team LeaderSydney (Yagoona) | Full-Time | Chemicals & Consumables Distribution — Childcare Sector
About Us
We're a fast-growing distributor of chemicals, PPE, and consumables to childcare centres across Sydney. As we scale, we need a hands on leader to take ownership of our Yagoona warehouse and keep operations running smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Warehouse Team Leader will run the day-to-day operations of our Yagoona facility. You'll be the person on the floor making sure orders go out on time, stock is accurate, and the team is working safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on leadership role you'll be picking, packing, and problem-solving alongside your team, not just directing from the sidelines.
What You'll Be Doing
- Overseeing daily warehouse operations — receiving, picking, packing, and dispatch
- Leading and motivating a small warehouse team
- Managing stock accuracy, inventory levels, and stocktakes
- Ensuring safe work practices and compliance with WHS requirements (especially relevant given we handle chemicals)
- Troubleshooting issues quickly — a late delivery, a stock discrepancy, an equipment hiccup — and getting things back on track
- Liaising with the Operations Manager on performance, priorities, and continuous improvement
- Helping shape processes as the business grows, there's real scope to build and improve systems, not just maintain them
- Jumping in wherever needed when the team is short-staffed — this could mean doing a delivery run, picking and packing orders, or covering another gap on the floor
- Representing the business well in every interaction, whether that's with the team, a driver, or a customer receiving a delivery ,a genuine customer-focused attitude is essential
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment
- A fast learner who can pick up new systems and processes quickly
- Sharp, on-your-feet problem-solving skills — able to think fast when something goes wrong
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A hands-on, lead-from-the-front attitude
- Genuinely customer focused comfortable representing the business face-to-face, including on deliveries
- Flexible and willing to roll up your sleeves — happy to step into picking, packing, or delivery driving when the team needs an extra pair of hands
- Forklift licence highly regarded (or willingness to obtain one)
- Valid driver's licence (clean record preferred, given occasional delivery duties)
- Experience in chemicals, cleaning supplies, or a regulated goods environment is a plus but not essential
Why Join Us
- Genuine room to grow as the business scales — this role can evolve with you
- Autonomy to run "your" warehouse and make it your own
- Supportive Operations Manager who backs you in, not over you
- Be part of a company making a real difference in childcare hygiene and safety standards
Pay: $65,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
