About The Opportunity
Campbelltown Hospital is recruiting for a Advanced Trainee Ultrasound. Life at South Western Sydney Local Health District is rewarding, progressive and diverse and is always focused on achieving our Vision of Leading Care & Healthier Communities.
The Emergency Department at Campbelltown has moved in to a brand new facility with capacity for 107 beds once fully commissioned. We are currently accredited as a Tier One facility with ACEM. ED sees approximately 90,000 adult and paediatric presentations per year with a varied, complex and interesting case mix. The admission rate is approximately 35% and 28% of our caseload is paediatrics. We have a broad-based, experienced and enthusiastic FACEM team (now numbering over 20 FTE of consultants with additional PEM VMOs on most evenings) providing extended hour’s coverage to ED 7 days per week with excellent opportunities for supervised training in a challenging and busy department. Both DEMTs are now ACEM Examiners and can provide expert preparation for both the Primary and Fellowship Examinations with dedicated programs for both examinations with excellent success rates.
As a department, we pride ourselves on an outstanding and comprehensive 12-month education program which aligns with the FACEM Curriculum. Trainees have access to a whole day of protected teaching every fortnight. Each day is has a general theme, with integration of POCUS and simulation based education. All presentations are recorded and can be accessed on our education website (www.ctnededucation.com.au, password protected) for future reference. This education website has been locally developed, including transition modules for doctors at different stages of their career. We also have our own accredited point of care ultrasound course (SonoTown) which is accredited for ACEM (COPD) and for CCPU with ASUM.
Campbelltown ED also facilitates quarterly multi-disciplinary core emergency skills days, aim to improve medical and nursing competency in airway management, regional anaesthesia, line and drain placement and procedural sedation. This forms part of a comprehensive procedural competency pathways that are unique to our facility. Campbelltown ED also facilitates daily resus drills every morning and airway management drills every afternoon, Monday to Friday.
It is an excellent department to further your critical skills in a supportive and education-focused environment. We look forward to you joining our team.
