The opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of Prenatal Cytogenetics, you'll work as part of a collaborative team under the guidance of senior scientists to analyse clinical cases using cytogenetic and genomic assays.
The role offers exposure across the diagnostic testing pathway and may include specimen processing, analysis, report generation, quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll do
Perform diagnostic testing including G-banded karyotyping, FISH and SNP microarray analysis
Analyse and interpret cytogenetic data to support clinical reporting
Prepare and contribute to high-quality diagnostic reports
Maintain proficiency across relevant laboratory procedures and technologies
Monitor laboratory equipment performance and support quality activities
Participate in research translation, process improvement and innovation initiatives
Contribute to training, presentations and knowledge sharing within the team
Ensure compliance with laboratory standards and accreditation requirements
What you’ll bring
A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (and/or Honours)
Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS)
A minimum of 36 months' experience in an IANZ/NATA accredited cytogenetics laboratory, or a laboratory focused on clinically relevant genetics/genomics research
Demonstrated competency in cytogenetic technologies
Knowledge of the molecular basis of human disease
