This is a fast-paced, high-trust role where your work will directly support the flow of critical information between Queensland Health, the Office of the Director-General and the Office of the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services. You will help coordinate advice on emerging, sensitive and high-profile health system issues, often in real time, and where clear, accurate and well-judged information matters.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build their executive briefing, issues management, stakeholder engagement and public sector leadership skills in a supportive, experienced and highly connected team.
Why this role?
This is not a routine administration role.
You will be working close to the centre of decision-making, helping bring together information from across Queensland Health to support senior leaders and government. You will see how issues move through a large and complex health system, how advice is shaped for executive and ministerial audiences, and how good coordination can make a real difference.
The role operates within a rostered team environment, which provides structure, shared coverage and greater visibility of your work patterns. While the work is fast-paced and responsive, the roster helps support balance with life outside work, while still giving you exposure to high-value, dynamic and interesting issues.
About the team
You will be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and takes pride in producing clear, accurate and defensible advice. The work is varied, fast-moving and genuinely interesting. No two days are quite the same.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is curious, calm under pressure and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
You will bring strong writing, analytical and communication skills, and the ability to quickly understand what matters, who needs to be involved and what advice is required.
You will be well suited to this role if you:
write clearly, confidently and for senior audiences
can identify key issues quickly and think through practical solutions
are comfortable working with sensitive or high-profile matters
can manage competing deadlines without losing attention to detail
build strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
are professional, responsive and willing to learn
understand Queensland Health or can quickly build that understanding.
What you will get from the role
This role will give you exposure that is hard to get elsewhere.
You will build a deeper understanding of Queensland Health, executive government, ministerial processes and system-wide issues management. You will also strengthen the kind of transferable skills that open doors across policy, executive services, governance, operations and senior advisory roles.
For the right person, this is a genuine development opportunity - one that will expand your network, sharpen your writing and judgement, and give you confidence working at pace in a complex public sector environment.
