The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Education Assistant (English as an Additional Language/Dialect) to support students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Working under limited supervision and guidance, the successful applicant will provide mentoring, pastoral care, and practical assistance to help English as a Second Language (ESL) students actively participate in and achieve success within the school environment.
A key aspect of this role involves supporting communication between students, families, teachers, and the wider school community. This may include interpreting and translating information where language barriers exist, helping students and their parents or caregivers better understand and engage with educational programs. The Education Assistant will also foster greater awareness and appreciation of cultural and linguistic diversity across the school community while assisting students to develop their understanding and use of Standard Australian English.
The ability to speak another language/s would be desirable, but not essential for the role.
