Description:
As the Lead Environmental - Approvals, you will provide strategic and technical leadership for environmental approvals across our operations and development projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the delivery of environmental approvals for operating mines, brownfields expansions and greenfields developments.
Providing expert advice on environmental approvals and regulatory requirements under Western Australian and Commonwealth legislation.
Coordinating environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes and supporting technical studies.
Preparing scopes of work for environmental baseline surveys and specialist investigations.
Managing environmental consultants and reviewing technical reports, approval documentation and impact assessments.
Supporting compliance with approval conditions under the Environmental Protection Act (Part IV) and the EPBC Act.
Identifying environmental approvals risks, constraints and opportunities while providing practical solutions to support project delivery.
Acting as the Company's technical authority for environmental approvals.
Mentoring Environmental Advisors and site-based environmental personnel on approvals processes and regulatory requirements.
Providing environmental input into project studies, mine planning and business improvement initiatives.
Supporting sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement across the business.
Assisting with regulatory agency engagement and stakeholder interactions as required.
Skills and Experiences:
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong technical background in environmental approvals together with the ability to lead complex projects and mentor others.
You will ideally have:
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
Experience
Minimum 8 years experience in environmental approvals and environmental management within the mining or resources sector.
Demonstrated experience preparing, coordinating and delivering environmental approval applications for mining projects.
Strong knowledge of Western Australian and Commonwealth environmental legislation, including:
Environmental Protection Act (WA)
Part IV Environmental Impact Assessment process
Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act
Experience managing environmental consultants and multidisciplinary technical studies.
Proven ability to deliver approvals for both operational and project environments.
