We provide supports across a wide range of disability presentations, including intellectual disability, autism, psychosocial disability, acquired brain injury, neurological conditions, physical disabilities, and participants requiring high-intensity and complex supports.
We are currently seeking experienced, compassionate, and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team.
About the Role
As a High Care Disability Support Worker, you will work closely with participants to deliver safe, respectful, and person-centred supports in accordance with their individual care plans, Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), Mealtime Management Plans, and NDIS Practice Standards.
You will play an important role in supporting participants to maintain their independence, enhance their quality of life, and achieve their individual NDIS goals.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and continence support.
- Supporting participants with high physical, intellectual, psychosocial, and behavioural support needs.
- Assisting participants with community access, appointments, shopping, and recreational activities.
- Providing safe transport to appointments, day programs, and community activities.
- Supporting participants with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and general domestic assistance.
- Following Mealtime Management Plans and supporting participants with dysphagia and specialised dietary requirements where applicable.
- Administering or assisting with medication in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and following approved behaviour support strategies.
- Assisting with manual handling, transfers, mobility equipment, and assistive technology where required.
- Monitoring participant wellbeing and promptly reporting any concerns or incidents.
- Completing accurate progress notes, shift reports, and incident documentation.
- Building positive relationships with participants, families, allied health professionals, and support coordinators.
- Promoting participant choice, dignity, privacy, cultural diversity, and human rights at all times.
Essential Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience supporting people living with disability (high care experience highly regarded).
- Must have experience working in SIL/SDA Settings.
- A genuine passion for supporting people to achieve their goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound professional judgement.
- A reliable, flexible, and professional approach to work.
- Ability to remain calm and confident while supporting participants with complex needs.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), Community Services, Aged Care, or equivalent (or be currently studying).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Tasmania) or willingness to obtain.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR Certificate.
- Current Manual Handling Certificate.
- Current Medication Administration Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
- Reliable, roadworthy, and comprehensively insured vehicle.
- Smartphone with internet access.
