Position Overview
The Retail Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of CW Supermarket, ensuring the efficient management of the grocery and takeaway food business while delivering exceptional customer service. The role involves managing staff, maintaining stock levels, coordinating store operations, monitoring sales performance, and ensuring compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and retail industry standards.
The Retail Manager plays a key role in driving business growth by maintaining product availability, managing supplier relationships, implementing promotional activities, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. Given Chuti Food City's focus on Sri Lankan groceries and traditional food products, the Retail Manager is also responsible for ensuring that inventory aligns with customer demand and cultural preferences, while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation throughout the store.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the grocery and food retail business to ensure efficient operations and high service standards.
- Monitoring and determining the range of products offered, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, and ensuring quality customer service delivery.
- Developing and implementing procurement, sales, and marketing strategies, including pricing decisions to maximise business performance.
- Planning and executing promotional campaigns and advertising initiatives to increase brand awareness and drive sales.
- Maintaining accurate records relating to inventory, sales, purchases, and other financial transactions.
- Recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising staff to ensure productivity, compliance, and excellent customer service standards.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Oversee the daily operation of both the grocery retail and takeaway food sections.
- Monitor store presentation, merchandising, cleanliness, and product displays to ensure a professional shopping environment.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of Sri Lankan and specialty imported products to meet customer demand.
- Coordinate stock deliveries, receiving, storage, and inventory rotation.
- Monitor stock expiry dates and implement stock rotation procedures to minimise wastage.
- Build relationships with regular customers and local community groups.
- Promote special offers, seasonal products, and cultural festival promotions.
- Assist in developing marketing initiatives through social media and community events.
Qualifications
- Diploma or higher qualification in a related field.
- Minimum one year of relevant work experience, demonstrating experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a retail store.
- Experience in stock control, purchasing, merchandising, and day-to-day operations.
- Strong ability to deliver high-quality service and resolve customer issues.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in supplier and purchasing management.
- Experience in inventory and stock control
- Experience in managing other employees and overlooking overall business activities
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
