Proper Pizza Cafe & Bar is looking for an experienced Chef or Sous Chef to join our passionate kitchen team at our Victoria Point restaurant.
We’re known for producing quality food, delivering outstanding customer experiences, and maintaining high standards in everything we do. We’re looking for someone who shares that commitment and is ready to take on a leadership role within our kitchen.
About the Role
As our Chef/Sous Chef, you’ll play a key role in leading the kitchen team, maintaining food quality and consistency, and ensuring smooth service during busy periods. You’ll work closely with management to uphold our standards while helping develop and mentor the team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and supporting the kitchen team during service
- Preparing and cooking high-quality meals to a consistent standard
- Maintaining exceptional food presentation and quality
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising waste
- Ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are always met
- Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff
- Working collaboratively to create an efficient and positive kitchen culture
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in a fast-paced restaurant
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent organisation and time management
- Calm under pressure with a positive, can-do attitude
- A passion for producing consistently high-quality food
- Experience with pizza making is a major advantage
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
