The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.
The People, Safety and Culture (PSC) business unit provides a range of services supporting our people and workplaces including human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; safety and wellbeing; workplace relations; and employee conduct.
The Payroll and Workforce Data team within PSC is responsible for end-to-end payroll including taxation, superannuation, salary sacrifice, processing of timesheets (manual and electronic), and the provision of high-quality advice to a range of stakeholders both internal and external.
What you will do
As Payroll Compliance Adviser, you will investigate payroll issues and improve payroll processes.
You will work with payroll and system specialists to find clear solutions.
You will:
- help investigate complex payroll and system issues that affect service delivery.
- analyse payroll data and findings to suggest practical solutions.
- keep payroll calculators accurate and aligned with current rules and policies.
- help plan fixes and develop better processes for payroll services.
- review procedures and recommend clear improvements that support timely service.
About you
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable.
You should also have:
- payroll knowledge, with an ability to check data for accuracy and compliance.
- experience with payroll processes and HR systems, including CHRIS21 or another payroll system.
- strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use data to find clear solutions.
- good project and communication skills, with a focus on teamwork and service.
