The Role
The Senior Orthopaedic Physiotherapist provides high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy assessment, intervention and care to patients with complex orthopaedic presentations at Prince of Wales Hospital. The role applies advanced clinical reasoning and independent professional judgement to develop, deliver, evaluate and report on patient-centred care, while collaborating effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams to support optimal outcomes and continuity of care.
The Senior Physiotherapist provides expert clinical advice, consultation, education and supervision to staff and students, contributes to quality improvement and service development initiatives, and promotes best practice in accordance with NSW Health, SESLHD and Physiotherapy Board of Australia standards. The role also supports a culture of safety, professional excellence and continuous learning through evidence-based practice, leadership and ongoing professional development.
Where You'll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Neurological Physiotherapy and demonstrated core competency skills with Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
- Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
- Current Drivers licence valid in NSW, for provision of community based physiotherapy services as required.
