Drive innovation at the cutting edge of finance and AI, leveraging advanced data science and technology to redefine the future of commercial analysis.
About the Role
This role sits at the intersection of data, operations and strategy - turning complex financial and commercial inputs into clear, actionable insights that drive decisions across Woolworths 360, our specialised business unit dedicated to designing, developing and innovating the "retail stores of the future”.
In this hands-on role, you will evaluate new and renewed stores, proof-of-concept initiatives, and store inclusion pilots to determine specific program's capital efficiency and overall effectiveness. Your analysis will range from tracking top-line sales and EBIT drivers to evaluating customer behaviour, department performance, and overall return on investment. You will combine strong technical skills with commercial acumen, turning complex analysis into sharp visualisations and compelling narratives that inform key decisions across Woolworths Group.
As a true business partner, you will work closely with key executives, including the Director of Format Development, Network & Strategy, and the Director of Smarter Operations and their teams to provide insights, challenge performance, and enable informed decision-making.
This is a permanent, full time role based in Norwest, Sydney with hybrid work arrangements.
What You'll Do
You are a commercial advisor who translates complex datasets into store-level strategy. In this role, your key responsibilities include:
Extracting strategic insights from new and renewed stores by conducting post implementation reviews, proactively interrogating and analysing data to understand drivers of performance and identify trends, gaps and opportunities that can be applied to future cohorts.
Undertake performance analysis on proof of concept initiatives and store inclusion pilots, to measure effectiveness and surface insights to determine how to enhance specific programs.
Transform robust analysis into actionable insights and clear recommendations that improves decision making and consequently drives business performance.
Ensure insights are incorporated into future deployment plans and help shape the future of the Woolworths network.
Build trusted relationships with the Directors of Format Development and Smarter Operations, acting as a "thought leader" in investment decisions and present actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Leverage SQL (BigQuery) and Looker to automate reporting pipelines and collaborate with Data Science teams to build scalable data assets. Apply AI Agents to accelerate analysis, automate repeatable tasks and improve output quality.
Work closely with state operational teams to monitor performance of stores within capital deployment programs and provide insights on performance.
What You'll Bring
Deep commercial and financial acumen: Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial analysis or finance, coupled with a relevant tertiary qualification (CA or CPA, or working towards). Proven ability to manage capital programs, conduct cost/benefit analysis, and drive capital efficiency in alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
Analytical and technical skills: Proficiency with SQL and Google Sheets, with advanced data modeling capabilities to interrogate large datasets and translate complex business questions into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
