OVERVIEW OF ROLE: UCAT ACADEMIC COORDINATOR (ONLINE)
Fraser's Medical is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable team leader to manage and coordinate our UCAT Team. In this role, you will work closely with students and especially staff to ensure our UCAT Classes, Tutorials, and Question Bank are of the highest quality to effectively prepare students for the UCAT. This will involve a combination of academic review of materials, setting up systems for the team to use, checking in with team members regarding teaching, rostering classes, and overseeing the development of our UCAT curriculum across all four subtests — Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Situational Judgement.
Commitment: 8–12 hours per week. This will vary depending on demand from our UCAT students and the intensity of the UCAT preparation season, which peaks between February and July each year.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate should:
- Have consistent availability week-on-week, with particular availability during the peak UCAT season (February–July)
- Have experience in UCAT management or other forms of management related to the teaching field
- Have sat the UCAT and performed highly — a strong UCAT score across multiple subtests is strongly preferred, as this demonstrates firsthand familiarity with the exam's time pressure, question formats, and strategic demands; candidates with experience coaching or tutoring students through the UCAT are particularly encouraged to apply
- Be currently enrolled in or have completed an Australian medical or health science degree — direct insight into the medical school admissions process is highly valued in this role
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Experience in UCAT tutoring or preparation coaching across multiple subtests
- Demonstrates exceptional communication skills and the ability to convey time-pressured reasoning strategies succinctly and clearly to students at varying stages of preparation
- Demonstrates strong leadership and coordination capabilities as a manager — including the ability to support and develop a team of UCAT tutors across Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Situational Judgement
- Familiarity with UCAT preparation resources, question bank management, and mock exam delivery
- Ability to guide & drive academic projects regarding UCAT curriculum building, content expansion & team mobilisation
