About the role
As a senior Mental Health Clinician with the New England North West Acute Care Team (NENW ACT), you will provide timely intake, acute mental health care and outreach support to adults experiencing acute mental health concerns across the region. Working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team of clinicians, peer workers and medical staff, you'll deliver high-quality, person-centred care through a progressive hybrid model that combines face-to-face and telehealth services.
This is a senior clinical role where you'll use your advanced assessment, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills to manage complex presentations, complete comprehensive mental state examinations, risk assessments and clinical formulations, and deliver evidence-based interventions. You'll confidently apply relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, while maintaining high standards of clinical governance and professional practice.
You'll also play an important leadership role within the team by providing clinical supervision, mentoring less experienced clinicians, leading case reviews and fostering a positive, supportive team culture. In addition, you'll support broader New England North West Health Services through inreach activities when required.
The role operates across a 7-day rotating roster designed to support work-life balance. You'll be well supported by your Line Manager, Professional Leads, regular structured clinical supervision, ongoing education and professional development opportunities, including access to regular internal in-service programs that support your continuing professional development.

About you
You're an experienced Mental Health Clinician with advanced clinical competence and a passion for delivering high-quality acute mental health care. You bring:

Advanced assessment skills, including comprehensive mental state examinations, risk assessments and complex clinical formulation.

Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to confidently manage high-risk or complex situations while applying relevant legislation, ethical frameworks and clinical governance requirements.

Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring colleagues, leading case reviews and contributing to a positive team culture.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

For CNS2: Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.

Eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
