We are seeking an experienced and motivated Venue Manager to oversee the daily operations of our café and restaurant. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring exceptional customer experiences, strong financial performance, and the smooth operation of both front and back of house.
Working closely with supervisors, chefs, kitchen teams and front-of-house staff, you will lead by example, drive operational excellence and foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the café and restaurant, ensuring efficient and profitable service.
- Manage, coach and develop supervisors and team members across front and back of house.
- Prepare and manage staff rosters within approved labour budgets.
- Monitor sales, labour costs, food costs and key performance indicators to maximise profitability.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently delivered.
- Oversee food quality, presentation and service standards.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, liquor licensing and company policies.
- Manage recruitment, training and performance management of venue employees.
- Conduct regular operational inspections and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate ordering, inventory management, stock control and waste reduction.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen leadership to ensure seamless service between front and back of house.
- Manage maintenance requests and ensure equipment and facilities remain safe and operational.
- Drive local marketing initiatives and venue promotions where required.
- Ensure the venue is presented to a consistently high standard of cleanliness, organisation and visual presentation.
- Minimum 2 years' experience managing a busy café, restaurant or hospitality venue.
- Proven experience leading large hospitality teams.
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations.
- Experience preparing rosters and managing labour budgets.
- Sound understanding of food safety, workplace health and safety and hospitality compliance.
- Strong leadership, coaching and performance management skills.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities.
- Financial management experience, including sales reporting, labour control and stock management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Availability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
