About the Opportunity
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Costing Clerk to join our Service Administration team. Reporting to the Service Department Manager, you will be responsible for preparing accurate repair order costings, producing customer invoices, monitoring work-in-progress and ensuring departmental reporting is completed efficiently and accurately.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with administration, costing or service department experience who enjoys working collaboratively across multiple departments and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
As a Costing Clerk, your duties will include:
- Compiling and preparing cost reports for the Service Department
- Calculating repair order costs and estimating future costs where required
- Reviewing daily work-in-progress to support departmental performance targets
- Pre-costing repair orders, prioritising waiting and urgent jobs
- Preparing accurate and timely customer invoices with clear explanations of completed work
- Recording repair recommendations and wear reports where applicable
- Maintaining accurate customer, vehicle and billing records
- Producing daily departmental cost and margin reports
- Maintaining files and records in accordance with company procedures
- Identifying opportunities to improve invoicing processes and efficiencies
- Working closely with Service, Parts and Administration teams to resolve queries and ensure smooth workflow
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous costing, administration or service department experience
- Experience within the automotive, transport or heavy vehicle industry (preferred)
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using Dealer Management Systems (highly regarded)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound mathematical and analytical abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- A positive team-focused attitude
