What you'll be doing
As a Mental Health Clinician within the Community Acute Care Team, you'll provide short-term crisis resolution and intensive home treatment as an alternative to hospital admission, supporting consumers with severe and persistent mental illness throughout their recovery journey. You'll work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers and partner agencies to deliver safe, evidence-based and recovery-focused care.
Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, crisis intervention and home-based treatment
Develop collaborative, person-centred care plans that support recovery and community living
Partner with consumers, carers, GPs, NGOs and community services to coordinate holistic care
Advocate for consumers while promoting empowerment, inclusion and least restrictive care
Contribute to clinical reviews, quality improvement initiatives, education and service development

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Degree in Nursing / Psychology / Social Work / Occupational Therapy; or Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) – graduates from “Djirruwang” program ONLY.
Registration: Full Registration with AHPRA; eligibility to be a member of AASW for Social Workers
Selection Criteria:
Experience and clinical skills in community mental health triage, comprehensive assessments, including risk and safety planning as well as experience in provision of collaborative care and discharge planning.
Understanding of Mental Health/ Psychiatry service/ crisis work and ability to work with in a demanding crisis/acute management service
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers/carers/families and has experience working with families who are coping with Mental Health Illness.
Highly developed interpersonal communications skills, effective verbal, written and negotiation skills and intermediate computer skills.
Experience and knowledge in acute mental health intervention, early intervention, and CALD issues.
Understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health with the ability to implement these in clinical practice.
Understanding of NSW Mental Health Act (200.
Current NSW Drivers Licence (P2 acceptable) and willing to use it for work purpose.
