Position Overview
The Accountant is a professional accounting role within the Kingpin / Promotional Product Industries (PPI) Group Finance Team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the position is responsible for financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting support, statutory compliance, general ledger management, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis across multiple entities within the group. The role contributes to the effective financial management of the organisation through the preparation and analysis of financial information, maintenance of accounting records, implementation of financial controls, and support of operational and strategic decision-making.
Remuneration
This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary range of $85,000 to $95,000 plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Management Accounting
- Prepare monthly management reports including Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Reports.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
- Analyse financial performance and investigate variances against budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting analysis for management review.
General Ledger Accounting
- Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and intercompany transactions.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial records across multiple entities.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Cash Flow Management & Financial Control
- Monitor cash flow requirements and assist in preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Review debtor and creditor balances and assist in working capital management.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls and accounting procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies and cost savings.
- Assist with monitoring financial performance and key business metrics.
Statutory Compliance & Taxation
- Prepare and assist with BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, FBT and other statutory reporting obligations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation legislation and company policies.
- Assist with external audits and respond to audit requests as required.
- Support the preparation of year-end financial reporting requirements.
Operational Finance Support
- Oversee accounts payable processing and supplier reconciliations.
- Process domestic and international supplier payments.
- Manage foreign currency transactions and assist with foreign exchange reconciliations and reporting.
- Assist with payroll processing, superannuation administration and employee onboarding activities.
- Support finance team activities across accounts receivable and payroll functions as required.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
- CPA, CA or ACCA qualification (or actively working towards completion).
- Minimum five years' professional accounting experience in a commercial environment.
- Demonstrated experience preparing management accounts, financial reports, reconciliations and statutory returns.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and statutory compliance obligations.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, printing, production or similar operational environment is highly desirable.
- Experience managing foreign currency transactions, overseas supplier payments and exchange rate reconciliations is highly desirable.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial reporting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and contribute to business performance.
