About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our talented culinary team at Peppermint Bay, a renowned restaurant and function venue located in the beautiful town of Woodbridge, Tasmania. As Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in leading and inspiring our kitchen brigade to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This is a full-time position based in our Woodbridge location.
What you'll be doing
- Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including menu planning, food preparation, and quality control
- Supervise and coordinate the work of the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation are maintained
- Contribute to the development and refinement of menu items, incorporating seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service delivery
- Participate in staff training and development to uphold our commitment to culinary excellence
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
What we're looking for
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure
- Creative flair and a passion for producing visually stunning and flavoursome dishes
- A team-oriented approach and the ability to lead and motivate a kitchen brigade
- Qualifications in Commercial Cookery or a related field, such as a Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
Pay: From $78,000.00 per year
