We're seeking expressions of interest from motivated, reliable people to join our team as Casual Hatchery Technicians at our Whale Point Hatchery in Port Huon.

As a Casual Hatchery Technician, you'll support the day-to-day operations of our hatchery while maintaining the highest standards of fish health, welfare, and biosecurity. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to working safely as part of a team.
Casual positions provide flexibility, with shifts available to support operational requirements, including weekends and public holidays as required.
- Feeding and caring for fish stock.
- Cleaning tanks, equipment, and maintaining hatchery systems.
- Completing mortality collection and flushing activities.
- Monitoring water quality and recording production data accurately.
- Completing daily operational checklists and paperwork.
- Assisting with fish handling, grading, vaccination, and stocking activities as required.
- Maintaining high standards of fish welfare, hygiene, and biosecurity.
- Working both independently and collaboratively with the hatchery team.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and fellow team members.
- Contributing to a safe workplace and following all company procedures.
You may already have experience in aquaculture, agriculture, farming, animal care, or fish husbandry—or you may simply enjoy practical, hands-on work and be eager to learn.
