About us:
The Cairns Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Service (CAMHIS) is an eight-bed unit that is scheduled for opening in early 2027. The CAMHIS team currently operates within the Paediatric / Adolescent Ward and also provides care to young people in other wards, such as the Adult Mental Health unit.
The CAMHIS team provides inpatient care for young people aged 13-17 years of age who are experiencing severe and/or complex mental health difficulties, who require 24-hour clinical support and treatment and who cannot be adequately or safely supported in the community. The team aims to provide acute inpatient mental health treatment to young people in a safe and supervised environment during a period of acuity or exacerbation of mental illness.
About your role:
Dispensing, administration, and recording of medication in ieMR
Monitoring vital signs, blood sugars, and documenting in ieMR
Recognizing and responding to acute and/or physical deterioration in a consumer
Building a therapeutic relationship with consumers based on trust, warmth, and empathy
Engaging in the Primary Nursing Model of Care and formulating nursing care plans as required
Completing ieMR documentation for the end-of-shift report
Completing risk assessment documentation in CIMHA
