About the role
RN-1 Seeking experienced Scrub/Scout Registered Nurses classified at this level to provide nursing services within the Operating room setting (Emergency/Cardiothoracic/Orthopaedic theatres). Employees working within this level develop from novice practitioners to a proficient level of professional practice. They consolidate knowledge and skills and develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. An employee at this level accepts accountability for his or her own standards of nursing care and for activities delegated to others.
RN-2 Seeking experienced Scrub/Scout Clinical Nurses within the Operating room service (Emergency/Cardiothoracic/Orthopaedic theatres) setting which has been consolidated by experience and/or further study with staff at this level developing from competent to proficient practitioners. Accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff. The Clinical Nurse role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however, employees are assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan. The Clinical Nurse demonstrates advanced practice within the specialised field of employment. The Clinical Nurse has a high level of understanding within their chosen speciality.
Essential Requirements/Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills:
Scrub/Scout experience within the theatres areas such as Ortho, Cardiothoracic, Emergency/Trauma surgery (minimum 3yrs+)
Good communication skills
Ability to work within a team environment
Good time management skills
Work experience within a Tertiary hospital environment

Qualifications
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate.
