NDIS Support Worker – Russell Island / Brisbane Bayside
Location: Russell Island, QLD / Brisbane Bayside

Hours: Approximately 16+ hours per week, with potential additional and weekend shifts
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate and experienced NDIS Support Worker to provide individualised support to a participant based on Russell Island, QLD.
The role will primarily involve supporting the participant to access the community, attend appointments and activities, build confidence and independence, and manage day-to-day activities as required.
Transport will be an important component of the role, so applicants who have a reliable vehicle and are comfortable travelling between Russell Island and the mainland are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the participant with community access and social participation
- Assist with appointments, shopping, activities and other community-based tasks
- Support the participant to build confidence and independence in the community
- Provide day-to-day assistance according to the participant's needs and goals
- Provide safe and reliable transport where required
- Recognise when the participant is becoming overwhelmed and respond calmly and appropriately
- Encourage choice, control and independence
- Maintain professional boundaries and provide respectful, person-centred support
- Complete relevant progress notes and documentation following shifts

Availability
Current preferred support hours are:
Monday: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Wednesday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Friday: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Weekend support may also be required, with times to be confirmed.
There may also be opportunities for additional or on-call shifts depending on the participant's needs and worker availability.
Requirements
Applicants should have, or be willing to obtain where applicable:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check/Blue Card where required
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Reliable and appropriately insured vehicle
- Relevant experience providing disability or community support
- Ability to complete progress notes and required documentation
Previous experience supporting people with psychosocial disability, anxiety or participants who may become overwhelmed in community environments will be highly regarded.
