Airlift Hovercraft Pty Ltd is an Australian manufacturer specialising in the design, construction, repair and maintenance of commercial and recreational hovercraft. Based in Alberton, QLD 4207, we deliver innovative marine transport solutions to clients across Australia and internationally. Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced Boat Builder and Repairer to join our skilled production team.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for constructing, assembling, repairing and maintaining hovercraft hulls and associated marine structures while ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Study engineering drawings, plans and technical specifications to prepare templates and fabricate hull sections and structural components.
- Measure, mark and cut composite materials, aluminium and other marine construction materials.
- Assemble, fabricate and install hulls, decks, cabins, bulkheads and structural components for hovercraft.
- Install and fit mechanical components, propeller supports, shafts, rudders, steering systems, machinery mountings and associated marine equipment.
- Install safety equipment and ensure compliance with Australian marine safety standards.
- Conduct inspections, identify repair requirements and carry out structural repairs, modifications and maintenance on hovercraft and marine vessels.
- Perform testing and quality inspections during construction and prior to commissioning or delivery.
- Operate specialised fabrication tools and workshop equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, designers and production staff to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant trade qualification in Boat Building, Marine Craft Construction or a closely related field; or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in boat building, marine vessel fabrication or repair.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using fabrication tools, power tools and marine construction equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
