The Bank Carnegie is a busy suburban pub located on the vibrant restaurant strip of Koornang Road, Carnegie. Since opening in 2021, The Bank has become a popular destination for locals and the wider community, offering a large beer garden, function spaces, and indoor/outdoor dining experiences.
We have strong weeknight services, with weekly specials that draw a number of people into the venue.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with menu standards
- Assisting the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of kitchen operations
- Monitoring kitchen costs, including food costs and labour costs, to ensure operations remain within budget
- Supervising food preparation and service across various kitchen sections including grill, pans and larder
- Monitoring food quality, portion control and kitchen presentation standards
- Training, supervising and mentoring junior kitchen staff and apprentices
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and occupational health and safety requirements
- Manage stock control, ordering and minimising food wastage
- Coordinating preparation for functions and canapé service
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience as a Chef De Partie
- Experience working across multiple kitchen sections in a high-volume environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong knife skills and understanding of modern cooking techniques
- Experience training and supervising junior kitchen staff
- Experience with Modern Australian cuisine and Sri Lankan cuisine will be highly regarded
Availability
We are open 7 days, Monday - Thursday from 4pm and Friday - Sunday from 12pm. Chefs are required to work a 40 hour week split over a 4 or 5 day work week. Shifts are flexible and rotate but full and consistent availability is appreciated. Earliest shift start time is usually 10am, and the latest a chef would ever get out would be 11pm on a very busy weekend during peak season.
