The opportunity
The Facilities Maintenance Officer plays a key role in ensuring Council buildings and assets remain safe, compliant, operational and fit for purpose. Working within the City Operations team, this position coordinates planned and reactive maintenance, manages contractor engagement, responds to customer requests, undertakes site inspections and supports the delivery of high-quality facilities maintenance services across Council-managed facilities.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance requests through CRM and job management systems.
- Obtain quotations and engage contractors in line with Council procurement requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) to support safe work practices.
- Monitor maintenance works, contractor performance and service quality outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and provide customer service and stakeholder support.
What you need to succeed
- Experience coordinating facilities or building maintenance in a similar environment.
- Relevant trade, technical, facilities management or construction-related qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety, risk management and SWMS processes.
- Experience managing contractors and using maintenance, asset or procurement systems.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License.
