Arts Indian Restaurant Pty Ltd trading as Itihaas Indian Restaurant is an established Indian restaurant located in Turramurra on Sydney’s North Shore. We are committed to delivering an authentic Indian dining experience through traditional flavours, quality ingredients and a diverse range of Indian cuisine.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team and contribute to maintaining the quality, consistency and authenticity of our food offering.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation (depending on experience and skills)
Main Duties
· Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards.
· Prepare, season and marinate ingredients and apply traditional Indian cooking methods, including tandoor techniques.
· Plan and organise food preparation and cooking activities to support efficient kitchen operations and service.
· Monitor the quality of ingredients and prepared dishes to ensure consistency in taste, portioning and presentation.
· Assist with menu planning and development, including dishes, ingredients and preparation methods.
· Monitor stock levels, order food supplies and manage stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimise wastage.
· Ensure food is prepared, stored and handled in accordance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
· Coordinate kitchen activities during service and train and guide junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a restaurant environment.
- Sound knowledge of Indian cuisine, ingredients, spices and traditional cooking methods.
- Knowledge and practical experience in tandoor cooking techniques will be highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen operational requirements.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation in a busy restaurant environment.
- Good organisational, time-management, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team and perform efficiently under pressure.
